Something Simple Charity Channel Crossing 2008

Robert Platt and Tom Sanderson, business partners and long time friends from Sedbergh School are seeking support for their charity challenge in 2008. In September 2008 the pair will attempt to cross the English channel in a rowing boat to raise money for charity.

Tom and Rob are hoping to raise an ambitious £10,000 for two charities. One is the African based charity ‘Skills for Living’ and the other the UK based charity ‘Kids Company’ (more information on these can be found on this website).

The channel crossing is 23 miles from Dover to Calais in one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes. The challenge of crossing the channel is made even harder by the fact that neither Tom or Rob have ever been in a rowing boat until March 2008. The crossing is a gruelling physical challenge that will take about 6 hours to complete, and 9 months of training to accomplish.
